Couples might like to consider writing to their loved ones as a way to spice up their relationship.

According to a recent article in the Huffington Post, this could be done via the internet – perhaps in a similar way to online penpals.

Author Therese Borchard explained she recently started emailing her husband "a brief love letter every day, a note he could add to his self-esteem file".

The contents of this message vary, such as thanking her partner for small actions that made her happy, or writing down his positive traits.

Ms Borchard said this has now become "a kind of tradition" in her marriage and has made the union stronger.

A recent article from the same news source also suggested introducing texting in a relationship, as couples can spark up fun conversation via SMS with their loved one.

But both parties should avoid jokes in texts, as these could be construed wrongly when there is a lack of intonation, the publication warned.
