A heroic wounded soldier took to the catwalk this week in an effort to raise funds for charity.

The Sun reported that Pte Mark Connolly, aged 23, was one of three wounded veterans who strutted their stuff on the runway in support of Erskine, an organisation that cares for injured Scottish solders.

Pte Connolly was left with severe burns when his unit was hit by an IED while on foot patrol in Afghanistan, as well as sustaining a shrapnel injury on one arm.

But he appeared to be in fine form at the Dressed To Kilt event, which took place on Easter Monday in New York City.

In addition to raising money for Erskine, donations from the event were also made to the Wounded Warrior Project and Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Dressed to Kilt was hosted by Sir Sean Connery and was attended by a host of celebrity guests. Desperate Housewives actor Kyle MacLachlan and Shrek star Mike Myers took to the catwalk in kilts, while American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler also appeared on the runway.
