The population of Worcestershire have got behind Help for Heroes to tremendous effect since the charity was founded six years ago.

Ian Baldry, who heads up the county's fundraising efforts for the good cause, has been speaking to the Worcester News about his work.

He explained he has the perfect reason to be involved in raising money for Help for Heroes, as he has previously served with the Territorial Army (TA), in the Parachute Regiment and with the Royal Logistic Corps.

In addition, Mr Baldry's son, Cameron, is a commissioned officer in the Royal Engineers and has served in Afghanistan.

"The reason I got involved was two-fold. Having spent many years within the TA, I felt it was time to give something back," he said.

While Mr Baldry admitted there is nothing that can be done to prevent some soldiers becoming victims of war, there is plenty the charity can achieve by helping them to live a better life.
