Single soldiers may find that they are able to attract the attentions of a whole host of beauties from the likes of Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, the results of a new study have shown.

Scientists at the University of Aberdeen set out to discover whether or not women perceive masculine traits in the male population as a sure-fire sign of genetic health.

And their findings certainly proved interesting – the study, published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, revealed women who live in countries with poorer health were attracted to men with more masculine facial features than ladies in nations such as the UK and America.

"People used to think beauty was arbitrary and that different cultures have different preferences," said Dr Lisa DeBruine, head of the university’s Face Research Lab.

"However our research shows that preferences may instead be explained by responses to different environmental factors like a low level of health in the population."

Single soldiers may also find that running improves their sex lives. A recent study by Sue Ryder Care found that one in three joggers enjoy bedroom action at least once a day, the Telegraph reported.
