Veteran Helen Bolland is getting ready to host a special dinner in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.

Ms Bolland is no stranger to fundraising for the military charity, having earlier this year joined a group of friends in walking the Great Wall of China and coming up with a sum of £17,000, reports Carrick Today.

Now, she is turning her attention to a grand meal that will be accompanied by an auction when it takes place in Ayr this September.

She told how Help for Heroes is not only about supporting ex-servicemen with injuries, as it is also helping her in her quest to go back to university.

Ms Bolland has been impressed by the items already offered for the auction, stating: "I'm overwhelmed by the response because I didn't really expect much."

The aim is to raise about £1,000 on the night itself.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801619245-ADNFCR
