Woman forced to deal with the elephant in the room

A woman in South Africa was recently forced to deal with a famous metaphorical saying when it occurred for real.

Francoise Maldy Anthony, a game reserve owner, was surprised to find an elephant has made it all the way to his front door at her home in Zululand.

It meant Ms Anthony was faced with a literal elephant in the room – something she explained she has never experienced in 15 years of owning the ranch.

The elephant had been spotted in the Thula Thula Private Game Reserve earlier in the day, but she was still an unexpected visitor at the door of the home.

"We helped her into the living room and just left her free to roam. I gave her some milk but was careful to not have too much contact because I didn't want her to be rejected by her herd when we finally got her back," Ms Anthony stated.

The elephant's mother was said to be delighted to see her when she returned the next day.
