A non-league football club in the north-west of England has revealed it is changing the name of its home to the Help for Heroes Stadium.

Wincham Park, where Witton Albion have played their games for two decades, have made the move in order to emphasise the club's positive role in the local community.

Witton Albion chairman Mark Harris explained it is a "logical" step that demands support due to the importance of the Help for Heroes cause.

As well as the renaming of Wincham Park, Albion will be offering free admission to all home league games to any serving member of the armed forces who can produce ID.

Kane Gunter, local Help for Heroes fundraiser, said it was a move to be welcomed.

Witton Albion currently play in the Evo-Stik First Division North and have had a good start to the season, with a 4-2 home victory over Ossett Albion followed by a 1-1 draw at Mossley.
