Will Young evidently understands the merits that being a penpal can have, as it has emerged the popstar is a keen writer.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Young revealed he prefers to write by hand instead of sending emails.

He decided on this approach when contacting the producer of his latest album, as he said a hand-written note would show how serious he was about the move.

"And I love writing letters. I have a penpal called Caroline … We have been writing to each other for five years. It's just great," Young explained.

The former Pop Idol winner may well find his friendship with Caroline lasts a long time, as the Rutherglen Reformer recently reported that a correspondent wanted to reconnect with her penpal 60 years after they first got in touch.

According to the news source, the pair began writing to each other at the end of World War II and even sent the occasional gift in the post.
