The next time you log on to your online dating account, remember you never know who you might be about to chat to next.

After all, the craze has not passed many people by, with even a host of A-list celebrities having taken the time to join dating sites in a bid to find love.

The Daily Mirror has compiled a list of the five biggest stars to sign up and begin looking through profiles in the hope that they will soon discover Mr or Miss Right.

It named Adele as its first example, with the Someone Like You singer freely admitting to using online dating platforms after breaking up with a previous boyfriend.

Although she is now in a happy relationship with Simon Konecki, with whom she has a daughter, that did not stop the chart topper joining a well-known site in the past. However, she admitted she did not use a photograph of herself so did not get too many emails.

Halle Berry is the next celebrity to be included in the list of famous online daters, with the Hollywood superstar known to use various chatrooms before she met her current husband, Olivier Martinez.

"I am never who I am. I have been to a couple of dating ones just to see what everybody is talking about," she explained.

Preston, the lead singer of the Ordinary Boys, is known for his relationship with Chantelle Houghton that blossomed on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, but he has since turned to a mobile dating app in order to get chatting to women.

Joan Rivers is the fourth name on the list, proving it is not just those with youth on their side who can get involved in online dating. She explained on her profile on one site that she loves "smart men, funny men, elegant men".

Finally, US chat show host Ricki Lake was keen on online dating and came close to marrying a British man she met over the web.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801699887-ADNFCR
