When you list your hobbies on a dating site, different activities can give off different impressions. Of course, sometimes, there impressions aren't right, and people will find out a more accurate version of what your relationship to a pastime is when they chat to you in detail.

More for fun than advice, here is a look at some of the 'first impressions' certain hobbies could give people – although as we say, they're not always going to be close to the mark if they assume these things! Do you agree with our analysis of the stereotypes around these hobbies?

Gaming: If you're listing gaming as a hobby, people may take you to be something of a geek – a status that has become more and more cool recently, and which people are comfortable applying to themselves.

Reading: Reading has something of a reputation as being something people who are quite quiet – and enjoy their own company – do. It's also associated with high intelligence in people's minds, of course!

Travel: Travel can give the impression that you like adventure, that you're not scared of the new and that you prefer not to stick to the same routine all the time.

Drawing or crafts: You could well be seen as a creative type, again someone who likes some alone time.

Acting: Though it's certainly not always the case, performing in front of people in your spare time often reads as 'extrovert' to others.

Sport: You could be assumed to be fitter than average, perhaps with something of a masculine streak? Maybe it even sounds like you are a bit competitive? People ought to keep in mind that not all sports involve competition though!ADNFCR-2867-ID-801747045-ADNFCR
