A parade is being held to welcome home soldiers who have been serving their country in Afghanistan.

The 3rd Division and Signal Regiment (258 Signal Squadron), based at Bramcote, will be marching through the streets of Nuneaton today (June 24th).

Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, councillor Neil Phillips, stated that it is a "wonderful" opportunity for local people to show their support for the soldiers who have been risking their lives over the last few months.

"I would encourage residents both young and old to attend the parade to wave flags and applaud the squadron for the courage and determination they display in conflicts around the world," he said.

Major Jim Knight added that the servicemen and women from the squadron are very much looking forward to the parade.

Earlier this year, a parade was held through the streets of Carlisle for the public to show their appreciation to the 1st Battalion, the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment's, on their return home from a tour of duty, reported BBC News.
