The criminal fraternity are rarely known for being the brightest and best in society, but it has certainly been a week in which some have shown just how dim they can be. After reports earlier this week that a woman had been arrested in Michigan for driving into a jail's car park while drunk, it has now emerged that another criminal has been arrested for trying to buy drugs from his own probation officer.

Despite being freed from prison on probation, it seems that the gentleman was getting somewhat desperate for some illegal substances, but he took it to the extreme and tested the patience of his supervisor.

Alvin Cross Junior, of Albany, Georgia, apparently sent a text to his probation officer that read "you have some weed?" according to WALB.

Unsurprisingly, the officer took a rather negative view of this line of questioning and reported it to police. A short while later, drugs officers raided his home, and the unfortunate Alvin was discovered to be in possession of a bag of cocaine.

Needless to say, the mistake has now landed the criminal back in jail after his probation period was unceremoniously cut short.

Elsewhere in the world of crime, a woman in East Tennessee did some time for a crime that seems a world away from the misdemeanours of a drug dealer.

Karen Holloway of Lenoir City was informed by officials in June that her garden was untidy and instructed to mow her lawn. Three months later, her refusal to conform has meant that she spent six hours in jail, a reduction on the judge's original recommendation of five days.

Ms Holloway argued that her busy lifestyle had meant she didn't have the time to tend to her garden.

"With my husband going to school and working full time, me with my job, with one vehicle, we were trying our best," she protested.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801756393-ADNFCR
