A 90-year-old war hero will be taking part in a fundraising challenge for a military charity.

Len Hale, a veteran of the second world war, is going to be involved in a 24-hour bike riding challenge at the Studio 360 gym in Billericay, the Enquirer reports.

Despite his advancing years, he still goes to the gym every other day and all of the money collected by the event will go to Help for Heroes.

Mr Hale, who also takes part in the annual Poppy Appeal and has been a member of the Royal British Legion for 53 years, said: "Anything I can do to help the veterans from then to current conflicts I will."

He will be proudly wearing his medals and cheering on 20 gym members, as they look to cycle for 24 hours, with five-minute breaks at the end of each hour.

Mr Hale has even said he may take part in the cycling too, but not for the whole 24 hours.
