Single soldiers looking to get trim for summer might be keen to hear of enjoyable ways to keep fit.

The Daily Mirror has published some tips on how to shed some pounds, and dietician Linda Foster reveals males should find it easier than women, as higher testosterone helps men burn more calories than their female counterparts.

It suggests sampling the EA Sports Active 2 game, which can be played on an array of consoles.

"The home workout features real sports, including basketball and boxing. It uses leg and arm motion sensors to wirelessly track your training," the news source notes.

And with David Beckham – who currently plays for US side LA Galaxy – recommending the game, it sounds like it could be a winner for many males.

Those keen to bulk out and avoid "chicken-leg syndrome" could take more tips from Beckham and gave a knockabout on the football pitch, as this has been shown to shape legs and tone the muscles.
