Vauxhall Motors has handed over a huge cheque for £250,000 to Help for Heroes, following a fundraising initiative by staff.

A number of different schemes and events have been held to raise money for the charity since Vauxhall took the decision to support it in 2010, reports Luton Today.

The money was handed over in the form of a cheque last week, with former soldier and Help for Heroes ambassador Private Derek Derenalagi receiving it.

He said: "The money raised by Vauxhall has made a valuable contribution to improving the lives of our heroes, many of whom have suffered life-changing injuries."

Among the initiatives run by Vauxhall's staff in a bid to raise money for the charity were a cycle ride from London to Paris, an annual Christmas carol concert and the Three Peaks Challenge.

Mr Derenalagi added Help for Heroes is delighted with the sum and would like to thank Vauxhall employees for their hard work.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801667847-ADNFCR
