A Vauxhall van that has been travelling the UK to raise money that will be used to help soldiers has completed its tour.

The Vivaro Vault spent the past fortnight stopping at Vauxhall showrooms and factories as part of the Drive for Heroes tour.

A total of £75,000 was raised for Help for Heroes by staff at the car and van retailer through various fundraising events, with the cheque being presented to injured serviceman Derek Derenalagi and Help for Heroes chief of staff Mark Elliott by Vauxhall managing director Duncan Aldred.

Vauxhall has entered into a two-year partnership with the charity and Mr Aldred said the company is "very proud" to be supporting the organisation, which aims to provide support to soldiers who have been wounded in the line of duty.

"Throughout history Vauxhall has had a strong link to the armed forces, from building Churchill tanks during World War Two to our current support for active servicemen and women," he observed.

Supermarket chain Iceland has also been raising funds for the initiative and aims to generate at least £1 million during 2010-11.
