Individuals who are interested in online dating should try and get clues from a person's profile.

This is according to Kate Bergstrom, who has documented her life using the web to try and find love in a blog called My Year of Dating Dangerously.

Speaking to mynorthwest.com, Ms Bergstrom said the first thing people should do is look at the picture.

If it is a torso shot in the bathroom, or if it only features scenery, then it is best to leave these people alone and not bother trying to find a spark.

As well as this, profiles that feature spelling mistakes are to be ignored, as individuals who are serious about online dating should put the effort in to make sure their message is perfect, she stated.

Ms Bergstrom continued by saying that if on a first date they do not say "anything specific", then it is a sign they are not fully invested in the process.
