Families who eat at one restaurant in Washington stand to gain financially if their children remain on their best behaviour throughout.

Sogno di Vino in the US capital decided to reimburse mums and dads who control their kids in order to harness a more relaxed and pleasant environment.

Laura King benefited from this scheme when she visited the eatery with her family, including three children aged eight, three and two.

A large bowl of ice cream was initially delivered to the table to show appreciation for the youngsters' good manners, but their waitress then went one step further.

"When we received our tab, it had a discount listed for 'Well Behaved Kids'. A pleasant surprise after a lovely meal," Ms King wrote on a blog.

Such a feature of eating out might be all many parents in the UK need to ensure their children are kept under control from arrival to departure.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801538514-ADNFCR
