A couple in the US will never forget the start of their wedding, after making an eye-catching arrival via a zip line.

Lauren Bushar and Ben Youngkin tied the knot in a rural setting in North Carolina and the ceremony opened with them flying over the rolling hills of the US state and towards a gathering of their friends and family.

As the pair descended, they were met with cheers and applause from their loved ones, who were highly entertained by the unusual stunt. Indeed, the couple said they wanted to ensure the wedding was fun for the guests as well as themselves.

When asked why she had chosen to use a zip line, Ms Bushar stated: "Because it is awesome and we wanted to make it the most fun for our guests – and fun for ourselves."

The video of them arriving at the ceremony has become a hit on YouTube and may even act as inspiration for other people who are due to get married and want to arrive in style.

Mr Youngkin added the arrival had been "perfect", despite the fact they stopped several feet before the end of the zip line, meaning they had to drag themselves over the finish line. The imagination behind the act was not lost on anyone though, and the wedding party went on to enjoy the nuptials at Crowne Plaza resort in Asheville, reported the Metro.

Most people will hopefully only ever get the chance to marry once, so doing something different to make a special day truly unique is a good idea and one that many other brides and grooms across the world may wish to consider.

A number of the guests at Ms Bushar and Mr Youngkin's wedding recorded their memorable entrance on smartphones before uploading the footage to the internet. The clips also show them applauding as the couple are declared man and wife under the bright late summer sun in the south-east state.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801643718-ADNFCR
