Help for Heroes is set to receive a donation of £2,000 that was raised by turkey producers in the UK.

A campaign was run by UK Turkeys entitled Turkeys for Troops that involved stores selling the large birds generating funds for the charity through their online shop.

In addition to this, Worcestershire-based turkey provider Rob Caldecott decided to donate enough meat to feed everyone at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on Christmas Day.

"I'm really proud to be part of the Turkeys for Troops campaign and we're delighted to give the Chelsea Pensioners fresh British turkeys once again for their Christmas Day dinner," he told Meat Info.

He went on to note that as well as raising money, turkey producers in the UK provided 1,200 dinners for sick, injured and wounded troops and veterans last year alone.

A database of turkey producers who have signed up to the scheme is available and can be used by both consumers and businesses.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801678660-ADNFCR
