A trio of friends who have completed endurance tests in the past plan to support soldiers by taking on an 84-mile run along Hadrian's Wall.

Ally McMahon, Rob Lingard and Zane Powels are aiming to finish their feat in two days, the Grimsby Telegraph reports.

It is a cause close to the trio's hearts, says Mr McMahon, as his son served in Afghanistan.

"One thing we have going for us is our positive mental attitude, which we try to instil into everyone who walks through the doors of the gym," he continues.

Some 90 per cent of the route will involve "undulating" cross-country terrain, so the men are gearing up for a difficult task, the participant adds.

They have already raised about £400 but hope this amount will climb as they undertake the challenge.

Another endurance feat is being taken on at March Royal British Legion Club this weekend, when members are getting together with sports stars Martin Adams, Joe Perry and Andy Lucas in a 24-hour pool marathon.
