Help for Heroes is to receive a cash injection after a group of friends signed up to take part in a death-defying challenge to raise money for the charity.

The team from recruitment company e-Response will try their luck at the Tough Guy contest, which is a large assault course that includes numerous extreme obstacles for participants to navigate, the Redditch Advertiser reports.

These challenges include endurance runs coupled with blockades such as electric fences.

Warren Dowler is one of the fundraisers taking part and he revealed those involved have to sign a death warrant before they can join up.

He said: "Last year 600 people got hospitalised, but it's for Help for Heroes, so we're just trying to raise as much as possible really."

The Scarborough Evening News recently reported members of the Scarborough emergency services will be taking part in a Help for Heroes fundraising night at the region's newly-refurbished Barbican bar.
