Armed police are on the hunt of a loose tiger wandering around the outskirts of Paris—and it’s reportedly near Disneyland Paris.

For anyone going to the popular tourist attraction to catch a glimpse of Winnie the Pooh’s Tigger up close and personal, they might just get more than they bargained for.

It was reported to the French authorities the morning of November 13th and the hunt has so far proved unsuccessful. It is set to resume today, with police hopeful of catching the big cat. A rather fuzzy picture of the animal has been doing the rounds on social media.

The beast was spotted near a supermarket in the Montevrain area, a little east of the French capital city. Police officers have posted outside of local schools armed with tranquiliser guns in case it emerges and becomes a threat to local children.

Owner of the French supermarket Jean-Baptiste Berdeaux said his wife had taken picture inside her car on her mobile phone. According to Mr Berdeaux, she believed it was a lynx on first glance.

It is not yet clear where the big cat has come from, although there have been one or two suggestions.

Some believe it has escaped from a circus that had performed in the town during the weekend. However, the local authorities are said to have checked with the circus group, who claimed there was no tiger as part of their travelling act.

It is also thought the animal may have been kept illegally as a pet and has since been set free.

Another picture released on social media shows what appears to be a large cat’s footprint in the mud near the area of the initial sighting. From this, many estimated the tiger to weigh in the region of 23-stone and to be in its teenage years, according to the Mirror. However, Sky News is suggesting it is a rather more conservative 11-stone.

Cedric Tartaud-Gineste, a town hall official, said: "We are calling on inhabitants to be careful, not to leave their houses and to stay in their vehicles. Anyone who sees the tiger should call the police or the fire service." ADNFCR-2867-ID-801760194-ADNFCR
