Online dating is a hugely successful format and one that has helped thousands of people find their soul mate, but that is not to say everyone is an expert at using it.

Liz Marie, senior editor at We Love Dates, has written a piece for the Huffington Post in which she explained three of the most common problems that can lead to a lack of success.

Firstly, individuals should question whether they are online as often as they could be, as signing up but failing to put in the hours is a sure way to failure.

Ms Marie went on to suggest that being too picky could be another cause of poor results for online daters, as while she would never advise lowering standards, you might have to face up to the prospect of your date not ticking every single box.

Finally, the dating expert highlighted the importance of a suitable profile, as problems with this can hold you back. She recommended not sharing too much information, nor leaving spaces blank.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801598843-ADNFCR
