Thousands of people have turned out to the streets of Reigate to show their appreciation for the hot soldiers who have been defending their country.

Almost 200 personnel from the Second Battalion the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment walked through the town centre to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday (June 25th).

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council welcomed the return of the soldiers, with the mayor of Reigate & Banstead, councillor Brian Stead, stating that it was "wonderful" so many locals came out to show their support for the armed forces on the day.

"The Regiment has only just recently returned home after active service in Afghanistan and many of the troops on parade were from the local community," he said.

Mr Stead added that he wanted to congratulate the soldiers for their high standard of drill and presentation during the parade.

Events were held all over the UK to mark Armed Forces Day, including in Edinburgh, where around 2,500 military personnel, veterans and cadets marched down the Royal Mile.
