Single members of the armed forces who are not sure what they want from a relationship may find internet dating offers them a wealth of options from potential partners.

Women on the Web’s divorce doctor Erica Manfred explains that going online to find love can offer people a "kid in a sweet shop" variety of choices.

She says that the internet environment means that people do not necessarily have to settle for someone who is not quite right for them, as there are often better prospects just around the corner.

Ms Manfred adds that profiles on online dating sites make it easy for singletons to tell what other people are looking for in a relationship.

"If you’re looking for light and fluffy right now, just date [people] who are in the same place as you," she advises.

Bettina Arndt, writing for The Australian, recently advised that huge numbers of people now log online in the hope of finding love and there are "ripe pickings" for single soldiers looking for that special someone.
