Brave soldiers are to receive a donation from The Skids after the band announced they are to donate the proceeds from the sales of a new DVD.

The group are giving the money raised to Help for Heroes and have visited the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline to promote the release, The Courier reports.

It includes footage of gigs performed on the act's last tour, as well as interviews with frontman Richard Jobson, who discusses the early days of the band.

A spokesman for the group revealed the singer is keen to repeat the charity the band have previously shown when it gave royalties from The Saints Are Coming – covered by U2 and Green Day – to victims of the 2005 New Orleans disaster.

"He wanted to raise money for Help for Heroes through this DVD," the spokesman added.

A concert in aid of the charity – planned by Crimson Orange and due to take place in June next year – is aiming to raise £500,000 for the organisation, the Scotsman reported.
