Supermarket chain Tesco has offered further support to military heroes after adding a specially brewed beer to their store offering.

Help for Heroes Blonde Ale, created in associated with Marston’s, has now gone on sale in shops up and down the country.

The beverage has been developed by Help for Heroes ambassadors Pete Dunning, Daniel Whittingham and Simon Brown, while Marston’s Brewer Genevieve Upton has offered her skills to deliver the 4.2 per cent “modern and zesty” brew.

It is hoped that many will have raised a glass of the ale on Remembrance Sunday, with five pence from every bottle going to the military charity.

The ales come with the slogan “Created by Heroes; Brewed by Marston’s; Enjoyed by Everyone.” Hopefully the latter will prove to be true and plenty of money will be raised for a truly worthy cause.

It was all made possible following a fortunate encounter between Help for Heroes co-founder Bryn Parry and Tesco beer buyer Chiara Nesbitt, at The Sun’s Military Awards in 2013. The rest, as they say, is history.

The deal was welcome news for Mr Parry, who had been previously struggling to get the beer into circulation, or indeed wider public attention, much to the surprise of Ms. Nesbitt.

However, the Tesco buyer certainly saw potential in the beer and indeed it’s potential to raise much-needed funds for the charity, and decided to put the product forward for future sales.

“He told me he’d really like to create a Help for Heroes beer,” Ms Nesbitt said in a promotional video for the ale. I knew exactly who he could work with to do it and I told him by that time next year, we’d have the beer on the shelf, raising money and raising awareness for the great charity.”

Mr Parry has expressed his delight at the beer finally hitting the shelves, after admitting he began to think the beer would “never see the light of day.” However, now his hard work has paid off and the charity should soon reap the rewards.

That’s surely enough reason to raise a glass. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801759538-ADNFCR
