Tandem bike ride plans to support injured soldiers

Two friends plan to support soldiers by raising money for Help for Heroes in a charity tandem bike ride.

Dave Downey and James Ross, both from Kings Norton, will head on a 50-mile challenge on St George's Day (April 23rd), the Birmingham Mail reports.

Mr Downey, aged 54, is registered blind and has already completed a 35-mile journey with 29-year-old Mr Ross to prepare for their mission.

Soldiers are heading to the Masshouse Members Club on the day, which is where the pair will set off from and return to once they finish the ride.

The troops will talk about their experiences in the armed forces and those heading to the venue must pay £1 to enter, with the funds all going towards Help for Heroes, which assists servicemen and women who have been injured on the front line.

Also raising funds for the charity is James Dowdall from Telford, who is running 209 miles in three races during April and May in honour of the organisation, the Shropshire Star notes.
