Some 79 per cent of women admit to talking about their ex while on first dates.
Newly-released research highlights how ladies are making a series of errors as they try to successfully get through initial meetings.
As well as bringing up former flames, 48 per cent give out too much information, while 13 per cent jump the gun by mentioning their desire to get married and have children.
Brandon Wade, a dating expert, noted that going on the date is "barely a quarter of the battle" when it comes to finding long-lasting love.
"A common misconception amongst women is assuming that since they already received an offer for a date then the job is done," he added.
Mr Wade – who has authored two books on love and relationships – noted that men like a challenge, as if they feel they have won something they are more likely to want another date.
