Soldiers can strengthen just about every muscle in their legs without setting foot in a gym thanks to Skechers Shape Ups, which have been flying out of the shops recently.

The trainers are made for those with hectic lifestyles, making them perfect for members of the armed forces.

With its special design, which involves a soft-foam inside and dual-intensity midsole, the aim is to make the wearer feel like they are walking barefoot, which is a great way of strengthening the leg muscles.

They also boast bottom aids, which help transfer weight from the heel to the forefoot, before soldiers push off with the toes.

"Wearing Skechers Shape Ups regularly … will not only [lead] to stronger muscles as well as a slender and more-toned physique, but will also improve posture for even better long-term health benefits," according to Fitness Footwear.

A clinical case study by Dr Steven Gautreau, of the DC Private Practice in California, studied the effects of the shoes, with the majority of his guinea pigs losing weight and building muscles during a six-week trial.
