Status Quo are to re-release a single to show their support for the Armed Forces.

The band announced an updated version of their 1986 hit In the Army Now will be hitting shelves in an attempt to raise money for Help for Heroes and the British Forces Foundation, the BBC reports.

It will feature new lyrics and backing vocals from the Corps of Army Music and is set for release late in September.

Francis Rossi, one of the outfit's two front-men, said the record is a celebration of the British military and stated now feels like the right time to do it.

"This release is intended to show our support for the Armed Forces around the world, but in particular, of course, the British Armed Forces," he explained.

It was recently confirmed Robbie Williams is to headline the upcoming Heroes Concert – where proceeds will go to the Help for Heroes charity – and will be joined on the bill by rockers Kasabian.
