A new song penned by a Staffordshire musician will be released in a bid to raise cash for Help for Heroes.
David Pointon of Bucknall has written and recorded Take Me Home after being inspired by the hardships of war and has promised to donate all the funds to support injured soldiers, reports the Sentinel.
Help for Heroes is a cause close to his heart as several of his family members have military connections – his grandfather served in World War II and his cousin has completed two tours of Afghanistan.
Mr Pointon, who works as a lorry driver, is hopeful that the song will strike a chord with people all over the country.
It comes at a time when his 19-year-old nephew is also poised to join the Royal Navy.
"Now I have other relatives involved it has made me think about it. What they do for a living is unbelievable and I really respect what they do," he explained.
