A spinathon challenge is being held in an effort to raise funds for the Help for Heroes charity.

The fitness team at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex will be taking part in the nine-hour event, the Hillingdon and Uxbridge Times reports.

It will involve 12 fitness classes that will each last for 45 minutes.

They will run back-to-back and individuals are being welcomed to join one of them – for a donation of £2.50.

Lindsey Perry, fitness operations manager at the facility, said: "We're hoping to raise £500 and we'd love as many people as possible to join us and help raise the funds."

Those who do not feel they will be able to participate physically can sponsor one of the gym's fitness team members to help contribute to the cause, she added.

Ron Mutton and his son Adrian are to take on a paragliding challenge, which will see them fly over the Himalayas, in an attempt to generate cash for Help for Heroes.
