Attendees at a charity fun day in Chigwell over the weekend were given a pleasant surprise by the emergence of Spiderman.

The superhero turned up at Made in Italy in the town to join more than 100 people who were there to enjoy themselves and raise money for Help for Heroes, reports the Ilford Recorder.

As well as the chance to meet Spiderman, guests were offered home-made cakes and a game that saw them throw a sponge at Walthamstow Stowaways Scooter Club security head Gary Beazley.

Jazz musician Sebastian Silas entertained the crowds with a performance, while various games were run by the Chigwell Air Cadets.

In excess of £400 was raised at the event, while it is set to be doubled to almost £900 thanks to a match funding offer from Barclays Bank.

Help for Heroes requires about £20 million each year to run its services, so every contribution makes a difference.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801613698-ADNFCR
