A speedway team is hoping to generate cash towards a charity for injured soldiers.

The Ipswich Witches are holding a Help for Heroes night to raise money for the cause, TWTD.co.uk reports.

It will include free entry for all members of the armed forces – who can each bring up to three guests – and all they have to do is show their warrant cards.

The event – which will see the Witches take on the Swindon Robbins – is being held on Monday 16th August at Foxhall Stadium and proceedings will get underway at 19:30 BST.

Horry Money, the Witches sponsorship co-ordinator, told the website: "Help for Heroes is a fantastic cause and we are proud to be putting on such an evening."

Former soldier Phil Zealand recently organised a charity football match to generate funds for the campaign.

More than £2,000 was raised when the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Regiment took to the pitch to take on pub team Brittania FC.
