A number of soldiers’ wives have come together to pose for a fundraising calendar, with many copies already sold, papers from the Archant Regional group have reported.

The women, spouses of men from the Swanton Morley-based Light Dragoons, are looking to support soldiers with the calendar, in which they appear posing in various places around Robertson Barracks, the publications revealed.

Some of the money raised will go to will a special bench outside the regimental church in memory of the Light Dragoons and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers soldiers attached to the regiment who were killed in Afghanistan in 2009.

Sharon Jarvis, who organised the creation of the calendar along with Nikki Church, said: "The girls have done really well, and the people in Swanton Morley, Dereham, Fakenham and the surrounding areas have been amazing in supporting us."

She noted that the girls wanted to raise money to create a memorial for those soldiers who have died in Afghanistan.

The news comes after the forces sweetheart and charity campaigner Nell McAndrew showed her support for The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association at The Royal Hospital in Chelsea.

It was part of the charity’s 125th anniversary celebrations.
