A group of soldiers from Sheffield are set to take to the football pitch to raise cash for the Help for Heroes charity.

Members of Third Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment will show off their soccer skills on April 25th in tribute to Corporal Liam Riley and Lance Corporal Graham Shaw, who were killed while serving on the frontline in Afghanistan earlier this year, the Sheffield Star reports.

The group’s efforts have now been given a boost by the donation of a football strip from a local business.

Paul Howard, contract manager at Pyramid Carpets, says: "The soldiers are friends of mine and it is a very good cause, so we decided to support them by donating their kit."

Last month, troops from the 75 Engineer Regiment took on the gruelling challenge of cycling the 215-mile Trans-Pennine Trail in just two days, according to the Warrington Guardian.

The soldiers were hoping to raise somewhere in the region of £2,000 for Help for Heroes.
