A soldier has decided that he is going to walk around the entire perimeter of the Isle of Wight in a bid to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Joe Pettifer, 20, was inspired after the murder of Lee Rigby in Woolwich to do all he could to support the military charity, reports the Isle of Wight Radio.

He will now tackle the 70-mile challenge on June 25th, starting and finishing the journey at Hope Beach.

"After what happened, I fear people will stop supporting Help for Heroes and I just want to show people we can still do it. It's a great charity helping soldiers and their families," stated Mr Pettifer.

His girlfriend Keely Lewis has arranged another walk on the same day that will also look to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The second walk covers only eight miles so is a better option for those who are not yet confident enough to tackle longer distances.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801596115-ADNFCR
