A soldier will complete all eight races in the Bupa Great Run series to raise money for three charities.

Help for Heroes, the Fire Fighters Charity and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance are all set to benefit from Mark Fisher's challenge, the Grantham Journal reports.

He will face one 5k run, four 10k sprints, a 10-mile race and two half marathons as part of his adventure.

Mr Fisher has previously collected cash for the Middle of the Road Trust and the Walled Garden Scheme, both of which are based in Ripon.

The armed forces member has stated that September and October is going to be the toughest time, as he will be doing five of the eight runs in these two months.

"They will be coming thick and fast by then and two of the runs will be half marathons so I will need to be in good shape to avoid fatigue or injury," he observed.
