Families in Berkshire are to come together for a special summer fundraising day aimed at raising vital funds for Help for Heroes.

Since they kicked off their efforts back in May, the Leaseplan Help for Heroes fundraising committee have raised around £5,000 for the cause.

However, they hope this will just be the tip of the iceberg as they push on with their plans to raise at least £70,000 for the charity in a bid to give something back to serving and former servicemen and women.

The highlight of their year, the summer fair, will take place on Saturday 22nd August at the Sandhurst Memorial Park in the centre of Slough.

The company, who are local to the city, will be donating their time, plus they have organised live music, a Zumba marathon and even a dog show to be officiated by Professor Steve Dean, a former judge at Crufts.

Looking forward to the summer fete, organiser Emma Collier said: "This is a fantastic day out, with all the money going to a great cause."

The Slough fair is just the latest in a long summer of special events held the length and breadth of Britain as people step up their efforts to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Just last week, for instance, a family from the Kentish town of Sittingbourne got on their bikes and rode 30 miles from London to Windsor before joining thousands of others in joining the big finish of the Hero Ride 2015.

For their efforts, the three generations of the Drury family raised more than £3,500 for the charity.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801797920-ADNFCR
