Help for Heroes stands to gain more than £200 after a group of sixth form students in the south-west put their baking skills to the test in aid of the charity.

Tutor group 12SA at saltash.net community school made and sold cakes at the institution's academic review day, ending up with a total of £225, reports the Cornish Guardian.

English teacher Suzie Allen, who is the group's tutor, offered plenty of encouragement and advice to ensure the students were able to put on an impressive sale.

Included within their offering was a wide range of cakes and biscuits that delighted visitors and fellow students at the academic review day.

A school representative said: "Realising that the majority of parents would be in school to support their sons and daughters on their annual academic review day, sixth form tutor group 12SA set up a refreshments and cake stall in the school's main hall."ADNFCR-2867-ID-801552563-ADNFCR
