Singletons ‘should be confident, not arrogant’

Single soldiers who manage to line up a date with a partner they have found online may be feeling nervous about their meeting.

It might be tempting to go over the top and appear completely at ease with the situation, but being too laid back can also have its downfalls.

One of the best policies to adopt in this situation could be honesty, as both parties are likely to feel a little apprehensive.

That is why online dating could be particularly handy, as it allows people to get to know each other a bit before they take the next step and arrange a meeting.

But comedian Julia Sutherland tells lifestyle programme The Hour there is a difference between being relaxed and cocky, STV reports.

"Often confidence is the most attractive quality, but don't be arrogant. If you're that perfect your companion will realise it for themselves," she suggests.

Nina Lorez Collins recently told the Huffington Post it is good practice to use online dating sites, particularly for those who have been in long-term relationships and are unsure how to approach somebody new.
