Single soldiers keen to try online dating may wish to read a new book that considers the subject.

The Science of Single has been penned by Rachel Machacek and details the writer's attempts to find love – including via the internet, The Hindustan Times reports.

Ms Machacek was granted a book deal following articles on her love life being published in the Washington Post and the tome looks at her experiences when online dating, blind dating and even visiting dating coaches.

The volume seeks to show "what happens when you use all the resources you possibly can to meet and date the opposite sex".

According to the source, the publication is both funny and insightful, which sees the author turn herself into a form of "romance-seeking guinea pig".

In a recent article for One India, Denise Baptiste claimed online daters should aim to be spontaneous when meeting up for the first time as this will showcase their fun side.
