Online dating is a great way for single soldiers to meet a partner but before posting a profile, they have been urged to thoroughly check their spelling and grammar.

Sify.com noted that much like traditional dating, would-be dates could be put off by incorrect spelling and poor grammar, as well as the use of exclamation marks in text.

Psychologist from the Queensland University of Technology Zoe Hazelwood, who recently led a study into the ins and outs of online dating when compared to traditional forms of meeting partners, said that the two are in fact very similar.

She said in both forms of dating, people judge potential partners on things aside from what they are saying, which could encourage single soldiers to brush up on their spelling and grammar skills.

"[People] may not pursue a relationship with someone if they do not like their writing style, or feel they have poor spelling," Miss Hazelwood warned.

The University of Texas at El Paso Prospector recently highlighted the plusses of online dating, saying it can be fitted in to a hectic schedule and can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime.
