Single soldiers looking for a fun short-term relationship would be wise to outline any limits from the word go.

This is the advice of clinical sexologist Dr Charley Ferrer, speaking to Fox News Latino, who says: "Set boundaries on dating others and how the individual should act in your presence, at home or in public."

It may be of interest to those who have met someone via an online dating site but would like to continue to date others.

De Ferrer suggests such individuals remind themselves that they are in a "transitory relationship" and could view it as an opportunity to plan ahead for something more permanent.

She advises against spending too much time with the other person, saying specific time constraints are a good idea to ensure couples enjoy each other's company.

Singletons might also find it is a good idea to consider dating somebody older or younger, as a recent poll by YouGov discovered 57 per cent of Britons believe it is perfectly acceptable to be with somebody who is ten years younger.
