A group of schoolchildren in Dorset have done their bit for charity after raising in excess of £500 for military charity Help for Heroes (H4H).

The youngsters from Buckholme Towers generated £539.25 after discovering a collection at a nearby restaurant had been stolen, reports the Daily Echo.

La Cruz manager David Alderson recently found thieves had snatched a charity box from his eatery, leading the children to action.

Neither the bottle the funds were stored in nor the cash itself were ever found, leading the school to put on a concert in a bid to raise some of the money once again.

Commenting on the deserving nature of the charity, Mr Alderson said: "When you hear about servicemen and women coming back with terrible injuries and disabilities, you can't help but be impressed by their courage."

He added that H4H is a very worthy cause and one that is extremely close to his heart.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801554849-ADNFCR
