School pupils have been doing their bit to show their support for members of the armed forces who have suffered injuries while serving on the front line.

Help for Heroes was selected by Putteridge High School as its charity of choice and students at the learning facility have set about raising cash for the cause, Luton Today reports.

And a pair of year 11 scholars – Kirsty Johnson and Jay Bilimoria – were given a tour of the charity's headquarters at Headley Court, where they visited facilities such as the gym and rehabilitation pool.

Mr Bilimoria described the experience as "amazing" and noted the school is pleased to have contributed to the care on offer.

He observed: "We want to do more to help so we have asked students to bring in old mobile phones which can be recycled and this will help raise more money."

Singer and actor Michael Ball recently described Help for Heroes as a fantastic cause, the Scotsman reported.
