With the centenary of Britain declaring war in World War One having just passed, and the conflict being marked in a huge range of ways in the UK, many people will be taking the opportunity to learn new things about the historical war.

One way of doing this is to buy a new book on the subject, and a recently released World War One history book from the SSAFA and the publisher CWP provides a way to do this and also help a service charity.

The book has been released for sale at a lot of supermarkets and newsagents, and costs £6.99. Half of net profits are going to be given to SSAFA.

Readers will learn about things like warfare tech, the home front and soldiers in the book.

"I am extremely proud and honoured, to have been able to assist SSAFA in the production of The Great War 1914-18: SSAFA’s Official Guide to World War One," commented CW Publishing Group CEO Oren Wolf.

He added that CWP picked SSAFA as a partner on the project because they are the one recognised and national forces charity that existed when World War One started.

"As such, they provided the frontline of help, care and support for the troops and the loved ones and families left behind," he explained.

Chief executive of SSAFA David Murray, meanwhile, has explained that his charity is still as relevant as it ever has been.

It supports 50,000 new people annually, and the new book allows people to find out about its work, he said.

The public can also find out about World War One at some new permanent galleries, recently opened at London's Imperial War Museum.

These feature weapons, letters, photos and art, uniforms and much more to explore.

It covers topics like the Battle of the Somme, the War's beginnings and how it was won by the Allies.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801740134-ADNFCR
