The sister of a Royal Marine is to cycle 350 miles in an effort to raise funds for wounded troops.

Nicola Gregson, whose brother Mike Gregson has served in Afghanistan three times, will travel through parts of the Netherlands and Belgium to drum up support for the Help for Heroes charity, according to the Leigh Reporter.

The endurance feat will coincide with the anniversary of the World War Two battle Operation Market Garden, which was the largest airborne operation to have ever taken place.

Speaking of her sibling, Ms Gregson, 28, said: "This is my way of showing him and everyone else who serves our country on our behalf that I appreciate what they are doing."

She added training for the event has been a challenge in itself, as she had not been on a bike for years.

Dan Cole and Josh Philips, two Territorial Army soldiers who studied together at Birmingham University, recently revealed they plan to walk 1,236 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for Help for Heroes.
